Entry into the EU in Slovenia
Koper is Slovenia’s only cargo seaport. Goods unloaded there from a non-EU country enter the customs territory of the Union in Slovenia. They are presented to customs, held in temporary storage and then placed under a customs procedure, for example release for free circulation or transit to another member state.
Who needs the EORI number?
The person who lodges the customs declaration or on whose behalf it is lodged needs an EORI number. If your EU customer is the importer, their number is used. If your non-EU company acts as importer or declarant itself, it needs its own number.
Ask before you apply
Clarify with your forwarder or customs broker who will act as declarant and in which member state the first declaration will be lodged. If the goods only move through Koper under transit and are declared for import in another member state, that state may be the right one for your registration.
